MORO, Ill. — National Weather Service in St. Louis officials are sending a survey team to Moro on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, after storm damage in the area left a home on Field Drive with its roof completely removed, snapped large trees at their bases, and flattened a grain silo about a half mile southwest of the home. The tornado was confirmed to be an EF1 tornado, with 86 mph to 110 mph winds.

Brad Charboneau, lead meteorologist for the National Weather Service in St. Louis, said the team will investigate whether the damage was caused by a tornado in Moro.
“There was fairly substantial damage in various places throughout Southwestern Illinois from the storm,” Charboneau said. “We can’t confirm yet whether any of the storms were tornadoes, but our survey team is out today and will have some findings hopefully by the end of the day.”

Directly near the home on Field Drive, what appeared to be an old barn was dismantled. About a half mile southwest, the grain silo was flattened, and other trees were downed.
There were known injuries at this time from the damage.
