SOUTH ROXANA — A reported domestic-related incident ended peacefully Sunday morning, Aug. 9, 2026, after South Roxana police said officers rescued a woman trapped inside a residence while a man barricaded himself inside.

Officers with the South Roxana Police Department responded at approximately 7:36 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026, to a residence in the 1000 block of Park regarding the reported incident. During the investigation, officers attempted to make contact with Dustin Link, 43, of South Roxana, who barricaded himself inside the residence.

South Roxana Police said officers were able to rescue the woman and bring her to safety during the standoff. After approximately 45 minutes, Link exited the residence and was taken into custody for outstanding warrants. He was transported and lodged at the Madison County Jail.

The case will be presented to the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office for review and consideration of additional charges.

“This was a situation that could have gone in a very different direction," South Roxana Police Chief Bob Coles said. "The important thing is that nobody was injured and it ended peacefully. Our officers handled it well, and I appreciate Roxana and Hartford being there to provide assistance."
