HARDIN - The Calhoun County Fair promises a fun weekend featuring a carnival, live music, 4-H displays, pageants, a parade and plenty more.

From Sept. 10–13, 2026, community members can stop by the Calhoun County Fairgrounds for a weekend of “classic” fair entertainment, said organizer Patrick Simon. He added that the greater community is welcome to join the fair and check out what they have to offer, and he hopes all attendees enjoy visiting Hardin and experiencing the fair.
“I just want to welcome everyone to the Calhoun County Fair,” he said. “It is a great time and just a great community of people. Even if you’re not from Calhoun, we welcome you with open arms and you’ll have a great time. We’re going to have amazing rides and amazing food and amazing events. You really won’t be disappointed.”
Abby Johnes, who is currently serving as Miss Calhoun County, added that it takes “a lot of work” to make the fair happen, but it’s a passion project for all of the volunteers, including herself.
She expressed her appreciation for the people who organize the fair, those who clean up the fairgrounds, and the sponsors who make it financially possible. Johnes and Simon agreed that the community does a lot to support the fair, which in turn supports the community.
“Our fair is so loved,” Johnes said. “We have so many people who support us, and that’s really what makes it possible. Without them, their donations, their help, our fair would not be what it is.”
Johnes is most looking forward to the Junior Miss, Little Miss, and Miss Calhoun County pageants scheduled for this weekend. She always admired that these ladies were “such great role models for our community.” She was thankful to take on the Miss Calhoun County title last year.
She shared that it takes a lot of effort to prepare for the pageants, and she commended this year’s contestants for the work they’ve already put in. She added that the 4-H students are also doing great work, and she looks forward to seeing their displays throughout the week.
“There’s so many talented, inspired young people in our community,” she said. “It’s really special.”
Simon hopes everyone comes out for the fair and enjoys everything they have to offer, from the demolition derby and tractor pulls to the live music and talent show. The carnival is also a big hit every year. For a full schedule of events, click here.
He added that the Calhoun County Fair tradition is a beloved and ongoing tradition in the community. The experience means a lot to everyone who attends.
“The Calhoun County Fair, I like to call it everyone’s county fair. It’s just the classic county fair,” he explained. “Everybody just appreciates the ability to bring their family out for some affordable fun and safe fun in a really good environment. It’s just to be able to highlight the works of the local children, the local artisans, and local talent at our talent show, just in an environment that’s really for the people. This is going to be our 97th or 98th fair, so there’s generations upon generations of stories that I just love to hear.”
