Roberts is accused of gathering with 18-year-old Hayden Womack of Grafton and a third minor suspect to engage in a “reckless use of force or violence” on Aug. 9, 2026. Roberts allegedly filmed the victim as they were being attacked in the Jerseyville Mall parking lot with the intent to disseminate the recording.

An arrest warrant was issued for Roberts on Aug. 19, 2026 after he failed to appear in Jersey County Court the day prior on Aug. 18 regarding a previous Class A misdemeanor charge of consumption of liquor by a minor.

Womack, who is accused of squirting the same victim with a water gun during the public mob attack, also remains in custody. Charges against a third suspect have not been publicly released as the suspect is a minor.

All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
