BELLEVILLE - Belleville Police are investigating after officers responded at about 2 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, to a report of shots fired at an address in the first block of Lillian Drive.

Investigators determined the incident involved an exchange of gunfire between a juvenile occupant of the residence and individuals in a vehicle, according to information provided by police.

Belleville Police said the vehicle fled the area after the incident. A short time later, deputies with the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department located a vehicle believed to be associated with the incident and took two persons of interest into custody. Police said one is a juvenile, and the other is an adult.

No one was reported injured.

The investigation is being conducted by members of the Belleville Police Department Patrol Division, Investigations Division, and Crime Scene Unit.

Belleville Police said the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation and no additional information is available for release.
