Following a series of hearings, the commission of legal experts concluded that ICE and CBP agents needed to be investigated for prosecution. Through Gov. Pritkzer’s Illinois Accountability Commission, ICE and CBP’s misconduct was exposed to the public — and the evidence has also been used to help citizens file lawsuits against agents who harmed them.

“Here in Illinois, we created the playbook for standing up to Trump and pursuing accountability for ICE and CBP’s crimes against our people,” said Gov. Pritzker. “I promised Illinoisans that if they documented attacks, the state of Illinois would use their evidence to pursue accountability. Through the Illinois Accountability Commission, we have done just that. Today, we have a public record of the crimes committed during Operation Midway Blitz, and we will not rest until justice is served.”

In addition to establishing the IAC, Gov. Pritzker brought the Trump administration to the Supreme Court to demilitarize our streets and won. He also enacted legislation to prevent ICE from making arrests at daycares, schools, hospitals, and courthouses.
