Bunker Hill CUSD 8 is proud to be recognized by Google as a Google for Education Reference Institution. This designation highlights our excellence and innovation in using Google tools—such as Google Workspace for Education Plus, Classroom, G-Suite, Gemini, and Chromebooks—to create innovative and effective teaching and learning environments that unlock the potential of every K12 student.
The Google for Education Reference District program recognizes school districts that demonstrate an ongoing commitment to technological innovation, exemplary digital pedagogy, and impactful leadership in modern education. By incorporating advanced tools alongside core Google Workspace for Education resources, Bunker Hill CUSD 8 continues to lead the region in providing forward-thinking classroom experiences tailored to student growth.
"Becoming a Google Reference Institution reflects the hard work of our educators and the dedication of our district to provide modern, engaging, and high-quality learning tools for our students in a balanced approach understanding that not all screen time is equal," said Dr. Todd Dugan, Superintendent. "Being one of only five districts in Illinois to hold this recognition validates our commitment to educational transformation and digital equity."
As a Reference Institution, Bunker Hill CUSD 8 will serve as a model for other school districts looking to enhance their technology programs, offering insights and best practices on effectively integrating Google tools into daily instruction. Bunker Hill CUSD #8 joins the ranks of other Google Reference Institutions in Illinois including Maine Township 207 in Park Ridge, Evanston Township High School in Evanston, Riverside Brookfield High School in Riverside, and Lemont School District in Lemont.
