For her hard work, Claire Shaw is a DD Homes Network Student of the Month for Civic Memorial High School.

Shaw, a senior, has played on the school’s soccer team since her freshman year. She is also entering her second wrestling season, and she can’t wait to dominate on both the field and the mat this year.

It can be difficult to balance academics and athletics, but Shaw makes this look easy. She serves as the president of the National Honor Society, a position that requires high grades and many hours of community service.

She is also a member of the mathematics honor society Mu Alpha Theta and the Spanish National Honor Society. She was recently named an Illinois State Scholar, a recognition that puts her at the top of her class.

Shaw serves as the secretary of the Creative Writing Club. When she isn’t busy with school, sports or extracurriculars, she holds a part-time job and is a student leader in a local youth group.

She enjoys drawing, reading and playing the piano in her limited free time. Shaw has received recognition as the English Student of the Year, and she was chosen to be a graduation marshal at last year’s commencement ceremony.

With her own graduation fast approaching, Shaw knows what her next steps are. Her teachers and loved ones will be cheering her on.

“I will attend a four-year university and major in clinical psychology,” she shared.

Congratulations to Claire for this recognition by Civic Memorial High School and the DD Homes Network!
