ALTON - Riverbend residents might notice activity at the Grand Theatre over the next few days as construction crews work to stabilize the building after spring storms.
On Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, crews were busy at the theater fixing the roof following storms earlier this year.

Located at 230 Market Street in Downtown Alton, the Grand Theatre is owned by AltonWorks and is known for its impressive history.
The Grand Theatre opened on Dec. 4, 1920, and at one time was the largest theatre in Alton. The seating when it opened was about 1,400.
The last movie in the theatre was in 1977, and it has been closed since.
A spokesperson for AltonWorks said there is no other update at this time.
