EDWARDSVILLE — Edwardsville Police have wrapped up their Halloween enforcement campaign, resulting in three impaired driving arrests, one traffic arrest, and seven citations for other violations. The campaign ran from Oct. 24 through Nov. 3 as part of a statewide effort to improve road safety during the holiday period.

Law enforcement agencies across Illinois participated in the fall crackdown, which aimed to remove impaired drivers from the roadways and increase the use of seat belts among drivers and passengers. The campaign operated alongside routine law enforcement activities and was aligned with the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Drive High. Get a DUI" initiatives.
The enforcement effort was funded through federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation. Authorities emphasized the importance of such campaigns in reducing traffic-related injuries and fatalities during high-risk periods.
