ST. LOUIS — The National Weather Service in St. Louis reported significant snowfall across the region early Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, with accumulations reaching up to close to 6 inches in some areas, leading to hazardous travel conditions.

The National Weather Service in St. Louis said snow began around 3 a.m. Saturday in the Metro East area, with amounts varying notably between locations. In Illinois, as of 8 a.m. on Saturday, the NWS said Edwardsville recorded 5.7 inches, Granite City and Brighton each reported 4.5 inches, Belleville had 4 inches, and Troy saw about 3.5 inches. On the Missouri side, the National Weather Service reported Troy received 5.3 inches, Ferguson 4.5 inches, Elsberry 6 inches, Manchester 5 inches, Weldon Springs 3.9 inches, and Warrenton 2.5 inches.
National Weather Service in St. Louis Lead Meteorologist Matt Beitscher said the snowfall totals were on the higher end of the forecast range and attributed the variability in accumulation to a burst of heavy to moderate snow, consistent with scientific predictions.
“Anyone who goes out is probably aware of higher rates [of snowfall] causing problems,” Beitscher said.
Beitscher said the storm is already transitioning from snow to a rain-snow mix near the I-44 corridor, around the Washington-Jefferson county line, as warming temperatures and sunlight reduce snow impacts throughout the morning.
"This snow-to-rain transition will continue east to west, with a full changeover to rain anticipated by late morning or early afternoon, Beitscher added.
Beitscher advised caution for those traveling during the storm.
“If you don’t have to be on roads, let professionals plough roads and let conditions clear if you can. If you have to be out, take as much time as needed. Don’t rush,” he said.
The National Weather Service continues to monitor conditions and provide updates as the weather system moves through the St. Louis area.
