"I was absolutely thrilled to learn that JCHS is home to 23 Illinois State Scholars this year!" Leslie said. "Our senior class is a little smaller at 167, so for 14% of our senior class to earn his top honor is unprecedented.
"Our community should be very proud that our students are achieving at such a high level to earn prestigious recognition. This is a testament to our students, families, faculty/staff, and high quality educational programs. These students are shining stars and certainly have very bright futures ahead!"
The State Scholar Program publicly and personally identifies graduating high school seniors who possess superior academic potential. The combination of students' exemplary college entrance examination scores (ACT) and record high school achievement indicate an especially high potential for success in college. To be named an Illinois State Scholar is an outstanding accomplishment that will be a highlight of the recipient’s academic record.
