ALTON - Intermittent daytime lane closures are set to begin Thursday, May 7, at the intersection of Illinois 100 and U.S. 67 in Alton as the Illinois Department of Transportation evaluates pavement conditions.

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced the closures today for the intersection in Madison County, weather permitting. The agency said the lane closures are necessary for the evaluation of pavement conditions.

Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during the closure, IDOT said. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
