For her accomplishments, Madelyn Gordon is a Student of the Month for Southwestern High School.
Gordon, a senior, has played volleyball and soccer for eight years. She also participates on the cross country team. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She loves the discipline and hard work that goes into every sport.
It’s important to Gordon to advocate for and support her peers, which she does as the vice president of Student Government and the president of National Honor Society. These positions require high grades and many hours of community service. Gordon gives back often and tries to help others in every way possible.
It can be difficult to balance extracurriculars and academics, but Gordon does so gracefully. She was recently named an Illinois State Scholar, a major achievement that puts her at the top of her class.
Outside of school, she holds down a part-time job and plays club soccer with the Alton Fighting Irish. She also enjoys reading, spending time with friends and family, and being outside.
Gordon has big plans for the future, and her loved ones and teachers can’t wait to see her succeed.
“[I plan to] major in criminal justice and psychology,” she shared.
