EDWARDSVILLE – The Edwardsville Rotary Club selected Edwardsville High School student Margaret Stacy for the Student of the Month Award for November. Edwardsville High School teacher Keith Baker nominated Margaret.

Margaret is the daughter of Michelle and Jason Stacy and is very involved in her school and community. She is an officer in the Broadcasting and French clubs as well as a member of the French and English Honor Societies at EHS. She is a member of the jazz band, flute choir, Podcast Club, and Key Club. Margaret serves as the president of the Creative Writing Club.
Some of Margaret’s previous accomplishments include winning the Daughter of the American Revolution award and earning her band varsity letter, bar, stay, and lyre. Margaret has been awarded over 600 achievement points in the EHS band. She has been the principal flute in the symphonic band for three years and a drum major in the marching band for two years.
Outside of school, Margaret enjoys drawing, writing poetry, and music. She plays the piano, guitar, and flute, and enjoys reading, specifically historical nonfiction.
Margaret plans to attend the University of Illinois Chicago and become a history and biology teacher. She also hopes to study abroad in France.
The Edwardsville Rotary Club recognizes a student each month, September through April. Each May, Edwardsville High School staff chooses one of the monthly winners to receive the $2,000 Edwardsville EHS Rotary Scholarship. The awards have been given since 1996, and the Edwardsville Rotary Club has given out over $35,000 in scholarships to date.
