From 5–10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, community members can stop by Rustic Roots in Wood River to check out the space and enjoy live music, food from their preferred vendors, a giveaway and more. They will also host a ribbon-cutting earlier that day at 11 a.m. Owner Tara Picket is excited to share the space with the community.
“I can say that the space is definitely unique. There’s nothing else like it in our area,” she said. “The possibilities are endless.”
As an event space, Rustic Roots is known for its affordable pricing and ability to be transformed for any party. Picket noted that they have hosted weddings, baby showers, anniversary parties, corporate events, birthday parties, pop-up events, vendor fairs and more. While Rustic Roots can provide decorations for free, she believes the space looks just as welcoming without.
“Everything is exposed brick, metal, industrial, rustic vibes,” Picket said. “It’s got a real warm feeling when you walk in.”
Picket and her husband purchased the building in August and set to work developing the event space. Previously a boutique and event space, the new business is solely focused on events.
She noted that it’s been exciting to change up the space and make it their own. Nov. 28 is a great chance for people to check it out for themselves.
“People that have come in and seen it, who have been here in the space before, are just blown away by what we did in such a short amount of time,” she explained. “It’s definitely been a lot of work, but the space was an amazing space already. The vision that the previous owners had, we just expanded on that vision and just took their idea and blew it up.”
On Nov. 28, Ashley Heflin and Ethan Morris will provide music, and you can enjoy food from a variety of local vendors. Picket said they try to support local as much as possible with their preferred vendors.
Everyone who attends the grand opening party will also be entered for a chance to win a free event held Monday through Thursday or $500 off a weekend event.
Phase two of the Rustic Roots renovation will start in February. Picket hopes to expand the space, create an outdoor area, and install bridal and groom suites. She can't wait to see what comes next for the business.
“We’re hoping just to get more people in to see the space,” Picket added. “We’re definitely excited for it.”
Rustic Roots offers several deals throughout the year, including last-minute event prices for events currently booking in December and January. They have already booked dates for 2027, and Picket encourages people to reach out for more information about Rustic Roots if you think it might be the ideal space for you and your event.
