A Winter Storm Watch has been issued from late Friday night through Saturday evening. The National Weather Service is warning of heavy snow, with 4 to 8 inches possible across portions of south central, southwest, and west central Illinois, as well as east central and northeast Missouri. Travel could become very difficult, especially during the day Saturday.
Today, conditions stay calm ahead of the approaching system. Expect a bright day with plenty of sunshine and brisk, chilly air. The high will reach 41 with a low near 20. West-northwest winds around 14 mph-gusting up to 27-will make it feel colder.

The morning starts clear and crisp, and the sunshine holds strong through the afternoon, though the gusty breeze keeps it feeling cool. Evening will be mostly clear and cold as winds ease down to around 7 mph. The overnight hours remain mostly clear and very cold, setting up a frigid start tomorrow.
Looking ahead to Thursday, temperatures turn colder with a high near 37 and a low around 31. Sun will give way to some passing clouds, and there’s a slight chance of snow or a wintry mix overnight as the storm system begins to move in.
Mold counts are moderate today, while tree, grass, and ragweed pollen remain low.
