TROY — A shooting and robbery early Friday morning led to a suspect’s death by suicide during a police search at a nearby residence in Troy, authorities said.

At approximately 1:12 a.m. Dec. 5, 2025, officers responded to the Circle K located at 536 Edwardsville Road after a gunshot victim approached them.
The victim told officers he had arranged to meet a female subject he had met online, but was confronted upon arrival by an armed male accompanying the female. The male suspect shot the victim, then demanded money and the victim’s phone, which were surrendered before both suspects fled the scene.
Officers provided medical aid at the scene until the victim was transported to a hospital by Troy Fire Department EMS.
Following the victim’s transport, officers, with assistance from a neighboring agency’s K-9 unit, tracked the suspects to a residence on Orchard Court.
Upon contacting occupants, officers located and detained the female suspect. While continuing the search, officers found the male suspect hiding in a closet. The suspect used a handgun to take his own life as officers approached.
Emergency personnel rendered aid and transported the male suspect to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities confirmed no shots were fired by officers during the incident, and no other individuals inside the residence were injured.
A juvenile female was taken into custody. The male suspect was 23 years old; further identifying information is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details will be released at this time.
