Cecil Wayne Dial, Sr., age 64, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away at 10:11 p.m. on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, Illinois. He was born on December 1, 1956, in Alton, IL, the son of the late Cecil Ernest Dial and Helen May (Miller) Dial.
Cecil married Connie Moulton on August 8, 1981 in Bunker Hill, IL. She survives. He is also survived by one son, Cecil Wayne Dial, Jr. of Edwardsville; one daughter, Chelsea Ann Holtzman and her husband, David, of Edwardsville; two grandchildren, Tucker and Rubee Holtzman of Edwardsville, two sisters, Carol Simmons of Sparta, TN and Diana McGrew of Cookesville, TN, one brother, Gregory Dial, mother-in-law, Roberta J. Moulton of Bunker Hill, IL; sister-in-law, Debbie Brockamp and her husband, Dan, of Morrisonville, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cecil was a self-taught master carpenter, working many years for TK Opel Construction before starting his own construction company, Dial and Sons Construction. He was a sports fan and enjoyed watching Cardinals baseball, football, and boxing. He also loved to fish and watch old movies and tv shows, The Andy Griffith Show being his favorite. He loved scratch off lottery tickets. Most importantly he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. with Ivan Chapel presiding. Interment will take place at St. James Cemetery in Edwardsville.
