Donald Lovell, 85, passed away on August 20, 2026 in Jerseyville, IL.
Donald was born on August 25, 1940 in Alton, IL to Alvis and Viola (Craigmile) Lovell.
Don married the love of his life and dearest friend, Deborah J. Robertson, on March 23, 1991 in Alton, IL.
Donald was proud to have served the Alton community on the Alton Police Department for over 30 years, as both an Officer and Chief. Don was a avid outdoorsman with a true passion for fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah; son, Doug Lovell; brother in law, Mike Brinkman; 3 goddaughters, Jennifer (Chris) Link (Josie), Abbigail (Brian) Battuello (Vincent and Mack), and Olivia Roggio (Wade); adopted daughter, Deanna Roggio; along with several nieces and nephews. His family meant everything to him.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Bea Monroe, Betty Cardwell, Carol Brinkman, and Russel (Ola) Lovell.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 from 4:00 pm till 7:00 pm at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.
Service will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 10:00 am at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, IL.
