Doris Gress

Doris Irene Gress, 76, of Hardin, IL died peacefully at Calhoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on July 23, 2024. She was born on May 26, 1948, in Wood River, IL to Edward and Wilma Rogers. On June 7, 1991, she married the love of her life, Daniel Gress, Sr.
Doris adored her cat Snickers, dedicated 35 years to her work at the Alton Mental Health Center, cherished her role as a grandmother, found immense joy in tending to her flower garden, and was a frequent blood donor.

In addition to her husband of 33 years, she is survived by her daughter Laura (Shane) Malley, son Eric (Rachel) Roose, daughter Patricia (Edward) Fanning, daughter Dana (Thomas Gettings) Gress, son Daniel (Vanessa) Gress Jr., stepson Frank (Alice) Roose, stepdaughter Cindy (Mike) Enloe, and stepson Dan (Tua) Roose; 16 grandchildren, Alex Malley, Zach Malley, Alyssa Malley, Kyle Malley, Jasmine Brown, Dawson Brown, Reagen Roose, Quentin Roose, Timothy (Jennifer) Fanning, Nikita (Brandon) Egelhoff, Daniel (Andy) Fanning, Lucas (Kyleigh) Fanning, Jeffrey (Shannon) Gettings, Elizabeth Gettings, Austin (Jeni) Gettings, Emily (Cameron) Gettings; and 13 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Larry Rogers; infant son Brian Michael Roose; Aunt Helen Bettis; and stepson Bill Roose.

She was fiercely loved by her family and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be Friday, July 26, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Gress, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Hardin.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 10:00 A.M., at Gress, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Hardin.

Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Michael.

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
