Gilpin W. Biermann, 98 of Wood River, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2026.
Born Apr. 15, 1928 in Leslie, MO, he was a son of William J. and Louise (Berman) Biermann.
He married Betty Hendrickson Feb. 18, 1950 in Wood River. She passed away Nov. 24, 2017.
Gil worked for Clark Oil Co. for 40 years as an operator. He enjoyed playing golf, watching the St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Blues hockey, going for walks around the neighborhood, and playing cards with family and friends. He was a proud lifetime member of the Wood River Moose Lodge #1349.
Survivors include his children, Terri (Robert) Gentry of Graham, WA, Karen Doherty of Maryville, and Michael Biermann of Ojai, CA; grandchildren Beth, Trisha, Timmy, Christopher, Nathan, Kyle, Ryan and Meagan; and his great grandchildren, Noah, Madilyn, Breanna, Khloe, Timmy, Tommy, Reagan, Calum, Vienna, Jack, Claire, Greta, Liv, and Ethan.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Tim Doherty, a grandson Brian, and siblings, Albert and William Biermann, Wilma Young, Irma Evert, Eleanor Sullentrup, Lucille Brune, and Irene Hoemann.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28 at Paynic Home for Funerals, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will follow at Woodland Hill Cemetery.
