Jeanette B. Wintjen, 85, died at 1:36 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Godfrey. Born October 18, 1931 she was the daughter of Howard and Lillie (Kirby) Ezell. She retired as an RN for St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton and was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. On May 24, 1952 she married Arthur Glenn Wintjen. He preceded her in death on May 1, 2012. Surviving are two daughters, Terry Clement (Ron) of Godfrey, and Amie Shanahan (Dan) of Douglas, MI, one son, David Wintjen of Godfrey and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Ezell and a sister, Ruth Jones. The family would like to thank the first responders for their help at the home. All services will be private. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
