John B. Mullen, 80, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017, 9:20 pm at his residence with family at his side. He was born July 8, 1936 in Alton, and is the son of the late John H. and Lillian (nee: Bailey) Mullen. Prior to retirement, he was the President of Murphysboro Plumbing Supply Company. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey and the Knights of Columbus Alton Council # 460. He was an avid golfer and gardener and enjoyed meeting with his friends for their weekly Wednesday lunch. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, father-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many. He married Ruth Ann Lavelle on June 15, 1963 and she preceded him in death onApril 8, 1998. He later married Barbara Giles Brown on Janaury 22, 2005. Sean Mullen, Emily Morris, Jack Mullen,Molly Mullen, Annie Mullen, Mac Mullen, Andrew DrumwrightOther extended family and many friends.He was also preceded in death by a step-son Richard Brown. A wake for John will be at STATEN-FINE Funeral Home in Alton on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. A visitation will continue on Thursday, May 18, 2018 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey from 930am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am with Father Steve Pohlman, Father Godfrey Mullen and Father John Blomberg officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in EdwardsvilleMemorials may be made to Playground Fund for the children at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey.
