Michael "Mike" Charles McClintock, passed away at 3:44 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 2021, at his residence with his family by his side.Born April 29, 1941, in Chester, IL, he was the only child of the late Charles Emby and Marie Katheryn (Murphy) McClintock. He graduated from Chester High School in 1959.
Mike married the former Patsy Elaine Story of Collinsville on October 10, 1964, in Chester. They celebrated their 57th anniversary this year.
He was a Veteran of the US Army Reserves serving from 1964 until 1970.
Mike was employed by the First National Bank of Wood River, serving as Director of the Loan Department, and was Vice President. After leaving the bank he was co-owner of Double Eagle Auto Sales in Bethalto retiring in 2006.
He was a member of Discovery Family Church in Collinsville. He served as Treasurer and was on the Leadership Team. Mike also led the Homeless Patrol which went out and served the homeless with food, shelter, and clothing.
While living in Wood River he served in all capacities of the Wood River Jaycees, 10 years on the Wood River City Council. After moving to Collinsville he began serving as a board member of the Collinsville Food Pantry and on the board of the Collinsville Spirit of Sharing Soup Kitchen.
Mike was an IHSA football official which he officiated for 47 years doing little league, high school, college, and state playoffs along with umpiring and refereeing baseball, softball, volleyball, and basketball. Mike coached basketball and was the Athletic Director and served on the school board at Bethel Christian Academy.
Besides his wife Patsy, Mike is survived by four children, Shannon and Mark McWhorter of Edwardsville, Krista and Cameron Lane of Russellville, Ark., Denise and Stephen Gray of Maryville, Michael J. and Lora McClintock of Alma, GA; sixteen grandchildren, Collin (Hannah) Lane, Kendall (Tymon) Duinker, Karah Grace and Kate Lane, Elisabeth, Grant, Elaine and Gavin McWhorter, Jacob (Bene’) Gray, Caleb Gray, Hannah (Domynik) Mowrey and Levi Gray, Micah, Mason, Lilah Grace, and Lilly McClintock; three great-grandchildren, Harper Lane, Huckston Duinker and a girl arriving in January 2022; many loved extended family members.
A memorial celebration of Mike's life will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Discovery Family Church, 699 S. Bluff Rd., Collinsville, IL. Services will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Stephen Gray officiating.
Burial will be private.
Memorials have been designated to Discovery Family Church.
Mike will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew him.
