Nora Fitzgerald

Nora Delia Fitzgerald, 81, died at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012 at her son’s home in Godfrey. Born June 17, 1930 in Ballynalty, County Galway, Ireland, she was the daughter of John and Sarah (O’Brien) Flynn. Nora came to the United States in 1951. She married Edward Fitzgerald on April 7, 1956 in St. Louis County. She was “Irish to the Core” and was a life-long member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians. Along with her husband she is survived by a daughter, Maureen Gusher (Michael) of St. Charles, MO, a son, Patrick J. Fitzgerald of Godfrey, a granddaughter, Cassee-Jo Mills (Michael) of Worden, two brothers, Sean Flynn of Toronto, Canada, and Paddy Flynn of England, and a sister, Sally Mitchell of Montreal, Canada. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Willie and Mattie Flynn and a sister, Kathleen Flood. In keeping with her generosity, her body was donated to St. Louis University School of Medicine. A celebration of her life will be held with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
