JERSEYVILLE-  Opal Etta Powell, 95, died at 4:10 p.m., Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Willow Rose Rehab & Health Care in Jerseyville.She was born in Fieldon, Illinois on March 26, 1921, and was the daughter of the late Leslie & Ruth (Levi) Schaaf.Surviving are her brother, Leo "Pete" Schaaf of Bunker Hill; along with numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece and caregiver, Joann Cunningham, and her daughter, Cindy Stamper of Jerseyville.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters & brothers in law, Agnes & Floyd Isringhausen and Imogene & Joe Cavanaugh; four brothers & sisters in law, William & Cora Schaaf, Walter & Dorothy Schaaf, Frank & Eva Jean Schaaf, Bert & Alma Schaaf; and a sister in law, Charlotte Schaaf.Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Thursday until time of funeral services at 3 p.m., at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Burial will be in the Fieldon Cemetery.Memorials may be given to the Peace United Church of Christ in Jerseyville.
