Roger Kennedy Edwards, 80, passed away at 10:05 pm Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born on May 22, 1931 in Centralia, IL son of the late George W. & Evelyn (Kessler) Edwards.
He married Loretta (Pelhank) on September 1, 1950 in Alton. She survives.
Roger served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at Union Electric (Ameren) for 44 year as a supervisor in Sub- stations. He enjoyed golfing and was a faithful member of Cherry Street Baptist Church in Alton, where he worked on the electrical system and helped with the building maintenance. He was a current member of Godfrey Baptist Church. Roger was happiest surrounded by his wife, kids and grandkids.
In addition to his wife Loretta he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn & Mark Brandt of Waterloo, Lisa & Jeff McDonald of St. Charles, Mo; one son, Kenneth Edwards of Alton; eight grandchildren, Andrew and Abbi Brandt, Kevin McDonald, Katelynn Clark, Ben, Asher, Jon, and Connor Edwards; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bob Edwards of Florissant, MO, George & Marj Edwards of Midland, TX and one sister, Jo Ann Roberts of East Alton.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Jerry Edwards and one sister Bette Gibbons.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday March 27, 2012 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.
Memorial service will be at 10 am Wednesday March 28, 2012 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL with Rev. Paul Militzer and Rev. Glen Greenwood officiating.
