Rolland Wood

Rolland David Wood, 70, died at 3:52 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2016 at Alton Memorial Hospital.  Born August 15, 1945 in Alton, he was the son of Warren E. and Mae Pauline (Johnson) Wood.  Rolland retired in 2000 after 35 years of service as a millwright for Local 377.  He was past president of Carpenter Union 377.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and enjoyed fishing, hunting and going to antique shops with is wife.  He and his wife also enjoyed raising Beagles.  He married the former Jacqueline Stanhope on April 10, 1967 in Alton.  She survives.  Also surviving is a sister, Ramona Fillback of Alton.  Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.  Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2016.
