Ruth Eileen Dilling, 92, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2012 at her home with her family. She was born September 25, 1920 in Alton, IL to Thomas and Lorena Krepel. On September 10, 1937 she married Charles Dilling Jr., he preceded her in death. Ruth was a dedicated wife and mother. She had a special talent for quilting and hand made more than a dozen quilts through the years. Her favorite hobbies included fishing, seek and find word puzzles and Dominos. Her sweet smile and love for her family will be fondly remembered and missed by all who knew her. She is survived by four daughters; Deanne (Keith) Fitzgerald, Jeanette (Harold) Apprill, Lorraine (Mark) Waddell, Laura (Steve) Roberts, and one son, Paul; six grandchildren, Kimberly (Joel) Fleitas, Monica (Don) Bobbs, Chris Waddell, Carrie Wittman, Christie Kulpa, Stephanie Ivanoff; 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; and one brother, Charles (T-Ann) Krepel. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia “Patty” Roberts, and a brother, Thomas C. Krepel. As per her wishes there will be no visitation. Her body will be cremated and services will be private. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
