Stacy Castillo, 64, of Brighton, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 1:43 a.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on July 8, 1962, in Alton, Stacy was the daughter of the late Lanny Whitehead and Janice (Fessler) Callahan. She worked as a scheduler for TWA Airlines, where she was part of the fast-paced world of aviation and helped keep its many moving parts organized.
Stacy was a devoted Christian whose faith was an important part of her life. She was deeply proud of her Native American heritage and treasured the connection it gave her to her family’s history and ancestry.
Creative, thoughtful, and expressive, Stacy had the heart of a poet. She found beauty and meaning in words and had a lifelong love of music. Poetry and songs gave her a way to express the emotions, memories, and experiences held within her heart.
Above all else, Stacy loved her family dearly. Her children and grandchildren were among her greatest joys, and she treasured the moments she shared with those she loved. She will be remembered for her faith, creativity, love of music, pride in her heritage, and the deep love she carried for her family.
She is survived by her mother, Janice Callahan; her daughter, Desiree Bock and her husband, Paul, of Cibolo, Texas; her son, Ross Bailey and his wife, Lisa, of Godfrey, Illinois; her former husband, Dean Castillo of Alton; and her six beloved grandchildren, Ty Bock, Maya Bock, Jaxson Bailey, Lincoln Bailey, Makenzie Madison, and Nicholas Madison.
She is also survived by her brother, Greg Whitehead; her sisters, Lori Morris and her husband, Joe, and Lana Geiser-Whitehead; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Stacy was preceded in death by her father, Lanny Whitehead.
Cremation rites were entrusted to Gent Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Alton. A celebration of Stacy’s life will be planned and announced at a later date.
