Wanda Steiner

Wanda L. Steiner, 83, died at 12:32 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center in Godfrey. Born March 31, 1932 in Alton she was the daughter of James H. and Mary Frieda (Stovall) Kimbro. She was a member of the January 1950 graduating class from Alton High School and attended St. Ambrose Catholic Church. She retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as an office manager after 38 years of service. On September 12, 1953 she married Nelson R. Steiner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. He preceded her in death on December 19, 2002. Surviving are six sisters, Barbara Acker (Thomas) of Alton, Myrna Hart (Harold) of Godfrey, Nancy Haney (Fred) of Godfrey, Sharon Kadell of Wood River, Anita Lipe (Larry) of Godfrey, and Sally Elliott of Alton. Also surviving is a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marjorie and Don Russell of Pittsburg, PA, and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Dean Thomas and Ronald Howard Kimbro, and a brother-in-law, Michael Elliott. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 31, 2015.
