Suicide is now the second leading cause of death among youth ages 10–24 in the United States. Every day, countless young people struggle silently with mental health challenges — in our homes, our schools, and our communities. The impact is profound, touching students, families, teachers, and entire school districts. But with awareness, compassion, and action, we can work together to make a difference.
We invite you to take part in the Out of the Darkness Community Walk – Madison County, hosted at Roxana High School on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 6:00 PM. These walks are journeys of remembrance, hope, and support. By participating, you help raise awareness and vital funds to support suicide prevention efforts.
We especially encourage school districts, student groups, and faculty teams to participate in a show of solidarity. Creating a team is a powerful way for schools to walk together, support one another, and send a message of hope and unity to every young person who may be struggling.
Why Walk?
To honor a loved one lost to suicide
To show support for those struggling with mental health
To connect with others and share hope
To promote awareness and prevention in your local community
To help fund research and educational programs that make a real difference
