Presents the Community Gospel Choir of St. Louis in our inaugural Elijah P Lovejoy Memorial Concert.
Elijah P. Lovejoy was an American Presbyterian minister, newspaper editor, and abolitionist who was murdered by a mob on Nov. 7, 1837 in Alton, IL because of his support for enslaved people and freedom of the press. This event celebrates the legecy of Elijah P. Lovejoy and his sacriface for justice and freedom.
Through the rich tradition of African American Gospel Music the Community Gospel Choir strives to break down racial, cultural, and economic barriers in the community.
